Hi! My name is Shida. I love to decorate using soft pastel hues. I adore the English home decoration style very much especially the shabby chic and country cottage. It gives me the feeling of comfort and relax. Although, the transformation to this style of home decor is quite costly, you can implement the Do It Yourself concept by refurnishing, repainting, decoupaging, crafting or tranforming any thrash items into a valuable and artistic pieces.

HOW TO SAVE MONEY IN DECORATING YOUR HOME?

1) RECYCLE/REFURNISH FURNITURES

Don`t throw away all your old things. There are so many ways that you can do to give an old piece a new, attractive look. Simply by painting, decoupaging, adding laces and ribbons here and there..you can easily transform an old, unwanted things to such a personal, valuable and beautiful remembered piece.

I`ve done various projects on this. I`ll upload the photos later.

2) WALLPAPER and BORDERS

You can do it yourself. However, preparing and pasting the wallpaper takes a lot of your time and patience but it will save you a lot of money. Then, you just buy a few pieces of wood railing (from any hardware shop), spray paint them and paste them using a liquid nail direct to your chair rail border on the wall.

I`ve done this before (as featured in the picture above). I took one week to finished pasting the wallpaper in my living room.

3) Recycle any bottle that you have from your kitchen - jam bottles, ketchup, olive oil, carbonated drinks bottles...or even if you have mugs with a broken handle, don`t throw them a way. Just glued a nice pink ribbons or bows to hide the broken handle point and put a strip of laces (white laces will do) around the mug..Ta da... now you can use them as a pencil and pen holder.

For the bottles, you can paint them with various colours of glass paint, decorate them with glitters, ribbons or laces and display them at home on your console table. Oh...you`ll be amazed with the outcome of your glass painting project!
